(Optional assembly and installation kit for above includes; plastic water tube guide, stainless nuts to assemble the two halves and drive installation gaskets. You do not need this kit to assemble the two halves. You can easily remove these items from your old sterndrive. In that case, order just the sterndrive installation gasket kit.)

Assembly information: The upper and lower units are fully assembled and shipped separately, ready to be joined together. Some basic hand tools are required. (5/8" socket wrench with 3" extension, 5/8" open end wrench, pliers, straight blade screwdriver, small grease gun, and in some cases a gasket scraper.) Shop supplies required: Mercruiser HP gear lube or equivalent, gasket sealing compound, bellows adhesive, spline grease, rags, and a service manual. Unit assembly, installation, and maintenance information and procedures are  identical to those found in the Mercruiser service manual. 
Special Note: When replacing only half of a sterndrive unit with a new section, the section being re-used must be internally inspected and cleaned in order to prevent sterndrive failure and/or damage to the new section. If the unit is assembled incorrectly and/or operated without proper lubricant, internal damage will occur which is not covered by the warranty.
